So, what is an escape room or game?

Escape Rooms or Games are theme based team building activities that are safe, challenging and fun! Each game has its own theme and you will need to search the room for clues to solve a mystery and complete your mission.

Are we locked in the room?

No, you are never locked in. All games are about solving a mystery and completing the mission. Some my have you exiting the same way you entered and others have another exit you must unlock to complete the mission. All games are monitored by the Game Master on closed circuit video with two way audio to communicate with you at all times.

Are the lights turned off?

No, all main rooms are lit. Some “secret” rooms and spaces may be unlit when you enter and you may be required to solve a puzzle or find a light switch.

What should I wear (or not)?

Casual is best. Some games may require getting into small spaces or crawling through a space to get to the other side. So be comfortable! But don't worry, if you are planning to go out after you will not be getting dirty or ruin your clothes.If you wear reading glasses, bring them.

When should I arrive?

Plan to arrive 15-20 minutes before your game start time. This is critical to allow for you to meet your Game Master, get a quick mission briefing, and sign waivers (if not already completed).

How long are we in the game?

You are in the room for 45 minutes but, your experience starts when you arrive. Once your mission is complete you will have time for a fun photo opportunity with props. The total experience will last around 60-70 minutes.

What if we don’t escape in time?

The Game Master will enter your game and help you solve the last puzzle your team was working on.

Has anyone suffered claustrophobia or other issues?

Not yet! If you need to step out for any reason at any point during your game you can go out the entrance you came in. Once you have made your phone call, used the bathroom, taken a breather etc. you may re-enter.

Can children participate in the games?

Kids will be thrilled to play the games and are welcome to participate. They will not be able to complete a mission or solve the mystery on their own, but they sure are good at finding things and can sometimes get into spaces and look under things easier than adults. So bring your mini-me, some restrictions are below.

Ages 14 to 17 can participate alone (no adult required in the room) with a waiver (CLICK HERE) signed by a parent or guardian (print, have it signed and bring with). Our games are great bonding experiences for teens (and adults)

Children ages 6 to 13 must have one participating paying adult (age 18 or older) per every 4 children. Children under 6 should not attend(but they can).  If you have an infant you can bring them although we do not recommend it, they may get startled by some loud noises or flashing lights.

Are your games handicapped accessible?

Although some games and experiences are not fully accessible, we have an elevator and ADA bathroom.

​Can I bring a camera or cell phone with me?

We don’t take your phone from you, but they are prohibited from use while in a  game.

Do I need to climb, crawl or do other physical activity?

Currently, none of our games involve anything but your brain (yes thinking is required!) and some basic motor skills.

What if someone in our group (or I) have had a few drinks before we get to the game?

We reserve the right to refuse admittance to anyone appearing visibly intoxicated by alcohol or drugs. We do not let anyone under the influence play our games! If you are substance- impaired you will receive no refund or rescheduling. We take the safety of our staff and other guests very seriously. You need to think clearly to enjoy and complete our missions!

Can I take photos and selfies?

Yes, in the lobby area only. Camera and phone use are prohibited in the games. If you are seen using one (we have eyes everywhere!) you will be asked to leave or to put your phone in a locker.

Do I need a reservation?

Reservations are strongly recommended. This is the best way to ensure that the game and time you want are available. Payment in full is required at the time of booking.

Walk-ins are welcome if space allows.  

How far in advance should I book?

Book as far in advance as possible to ensure your desired date and time are available. For reservations outside of our normal business hours, special events rates apply. 

How do I know my reservation went through?

You will receive a confirmation email shortly after booking. Please check your Spam folder if you do not receive an email within the hour before contacting us. There is a link to “view booking” in the email.(YES)

What if I am only in town for the day or weekend?

If you can’t get a reservation contact us, we’d be happy to host you outside of our normal hours of operation! To add a reservation outside of our normal business hours, special events rates apply.

Do you take cash on site?

We can accept the exact amount including tax. We don’t keep cash on site, therefore we cannot make change.

How many people can each game accommodate?


We want to book multiple games during normal business hours but noticed they start at different times? What can we do?

So, you have a large group of friends or colleagues and need more than one room. We will need to start the games at the same time and special events rates apply. We will need to move our schedule around so that multiple rooms can start at the same time, please contact our Special Events Team to make these arrangements.

Will we be placed with strangers to fill the time slot?

You will need to book the entire game to be private(and receive a 10% discount). If not you may get to meet some new people that are out having a great time at a new experience just like you!

Can I bring extra people?

Only if you book the entire room. For smaller rooms you may bring up to 2 players for larger room up to 4 players. The 10% discount applies to the extra players as well. You can pay for these players at the time of booking, the day of the game or follow the “view booking” link in your email to add and pay for additional players.

Can I bring extra people if I don’t book the entire game?

You can, if there are still tickets available for the game. If the game is “sold out”  there are no more tickets available. Another group has already booked the other tickets for the game and it is not possible to add more players in that time slot.

What if I need to change or cancel my reservation?

We require a minimum of 24 hours prior to your game start time to issue a credit or reschedule your game. Within 24 hours there are no changes or cancellations. Click Here to see out Special Event cancellation policy

Can I buy a Gift Voucher for someone?

How do I Redeem a Gift Voucher?

What is parking like in Kenmore Square?

Metered parking is available and usually there are spots on Newbury St (behind Key to Amaze). All meters in Boston are active 8AM-8PM Monday through Saturday and have a two hour limit. There are also many public lots and garages in the area as well.

What about Public Transportation?

Busses 8,57,60,65 Greenline inbound B,C and D lines. Outbound all green line trains from Boston.

What happens if our group or I arrive late?

Arriving 15-20 minutes prior to your game starting is critical to everyone's experience. This is especially true if you have not reserved the entire room, others are depending on you for a great experience! Even the Game Master relies on you being on time! Games start on time (think Tokyo Train time!) if you show up late you will not be allowed in the game.  


Please account for the Transit delays, traffic and parking in the Kenmore Square area and plan accordingly.!

Sorry, no refunds or rescheduling at all within 24 hours.

Birthdays, Anniversaries, Bachelorette Parties and other celebrations. Does this need to be booked as a "Special Event"?

It my be Special to you but we do not require “special Event” booking. If you would like to include a special audio message you do need to reserve a game entirely to yourselves and make a note in the comments section of your reservation. If you want to put something physical in a game, please let us know ahead of time so we can connect you with a manager to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Key to Amaze for Team-building, and other events?

Absolutely! Step away from the ordinary and have some fun! We offer good, clean fun with an attractive lobby and waiting area.  We can add a personalized messages in the games to make the guest of honor feel special! Just include a note in the comments section of your reservation.

What's the difference between a private party and a regular booking?

Private parties allow for several advantages for your group.

Book outside our normal business hours, we open for you!

All your rooms can start at the same time (especially useful if you have more than the max number of people for our biggest room - 12, or if you want to compete against each other)

You are welcome to bring outside food & drinks for private parties 2 hours or longer.  Use anyone you like or just bring pizza and wings!

Our venue is semi-private. You will have your own escape rooms for your group, but depending on the time of day, there may be other guests on site. We do offer whole venue bookings!

Additional space is available on an hourly rental basis. Just ask when booking about more information regarding this option.

How do I reserve an Amazing event?

When do I need to pay for the private party?

Due to the fact that we have multiple inquiries about specific time slots, we require payment in full to complete your reservation. Reservations are given to the group that completes the booking first.

What is your cancellation & change policy for private parties?

Changes or cancelation of your event are allowed up to 7 days before the start of your event, you will receive a full refund. Within 7 days there are no refunds.

What if I want additional non-gaming time with my group?

Non-gaming time is time spent in our party areas, where you group can enjoy food or drinks. You can purchase non-gaming time in hour increments either before or after your event.

Can we schedule a Private Party during your normal hours?

Yes, please contact our Special Events Team at 1-800-***-**** and we would be happy to discuss options with you.

Isn't this unsanitary?

Not at all! Our headsets have a leatherette surround and all hardware is sanitized in between uses.

How long are the games?

Time slots are 45 minutes of game play. This may be one game or multiple games depending on the title(s) you choose.

How many players can play at once with VR?

4 to 6 players depending on the title you choose.
